Graphics Template Catalog

A searchable, multi-filter library of 150+ ready-to-use broadcast graphics templates designed to take users from browsing to a customized, on-air-ready graphic in minutes.

The problem

150+ templates needed more than a flat list.

Templates spanned wildly different use cases: a baseball scoreboard had little in common with an election results graphic. A flat, single-category list forced users to open templates one by one just to find the right one. Because these are inherently visual products, text labels alone could not do the evaluation work.

The approach

Search from the angle that makes sense to you.

I replaced the early flat category list with three independent, combinable filters: Industries, Use Cases, and Data Sources. Operators who already knew their data provider could start there, while others could narrow by the context in which the graphic would be used.

Filtering was paired with a large live-preview panel showing template metadata, data source, required connectors, and description. Search and a live result count kept 150+ options navigable rather than overwhelming.

The outcome

From open library to on-air-ready graphic.

Users can find and evaluate a template without engineering help, collapsing a slow one-by-one evaluation process into fast, three-axis search across the library.

Context

The catalog was a major update presented at NAB 2024. It had to serve working broadcast operators and also showcase the graphics editor’s range and creative possibilities to a trade-show audience.

Role

I designed the end-to-end browsing experience solo, working across information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, and collaboration with engineering.
